Hey! Nitrome95 coming back after a few months.
I’m sorry for not writing out articles but it got to the point where it became more of a job than enjoyment.
Now, I’m ready to write again starting here on a popular variation of the chip cycle bait deck that was circling around top 200.
With all of its nerfs and the rise of Royal Ghost, this deck is strong if not stronger, winning the legendary challenge.
Your main win condition that will slowly chip down your opponent’s tower.
Don’t be afraid to use this card when your opponent has the log in hand.
It’s a LOG bait deck so you have to bait out the LOG.
In general you will want to place the Goblin Barrel on the center of the tower, but there are a few other placements:
Two tiles behind the tower
Against opponents who do not read the Goblin Barrel path. They will miss the Goblin Barrel with their Log or Zap.
One tile in front on the tower
If they counter your Goblin Barrel with Skeleton Army or Goblin Gang, use this placement and use a prediction Log.
Furthest corner from the king tower
If your opponent is using cards that synergize well with tornado or if you are suspecting your opponent is using a meta deck that contains Tornado, this ensures that they can not activate the king tower.
With this card, you have to make sure that you are not giving your opponent spell value, and that varies for match to match.
For example, a Goblin Gang Knight Goblin Barrel Push is horrible if your opponent is using Log, but okay if your opponent is using Zap.
Even though OJ says that the Log can not kill a Princess and Goblin Barrel on the same lane, your opponent can use the Ewiz trick to do so with the Log.
For those of you who do not know, there are a few frames where the Goblins are all clumped in the center.
If you place the log right on top of the tower and time it correctly, the Log will reach the Princess. The timing is not difficult since the Goblins are being pushed into the Log.
Lastly, and this is extremely important, when an opponent places a slow moving troop in the back, DON’T place your Goblin Barrel on the same side. You’re just giving your opponent value.
This card is absolutely OP.
You will use this card in place of the knight 90% of the time.
The one weakness of this card is actually the invisibility, because it can’t tank for the Goblin Barrel.
This card does a better job than knight for tanking for the Goblin Barrel, and takes the place of rocket with the recent nerfs.
Use him to counter Elixir Pumps and chip.
It doesn’t matter with the nerfs this card is so strong.
In general you will want to use this with Ice Spirit to counter Hogs in single elixir, as Inferno is a negative elixir trade.
Kills tanks and everything else pretty well.
Make sure you don’t overcommit and you should be able to defend.
I’m sure that 99% of you are going to disagree when I say that I think that Princess is the best legendary in the game(besides Royal Ghost ofc).
A lot of the misconception comes from the massive misuse of this card.
Here are the most important placements:
In the back on the corner of the king tower
This is for when you have nothing to play.
You will want to play this on the opposite side in which your opponent is pushing.
You don’t want to place it in the bottom left or right corner of the arena because the Princess then can’t cover both sides of the arena.
Same lane far side
This placement is against the wall next to the Princess Tower.
This is used when you want to place a goblin gang in the middle to aggro troops.
Same lane inner side
This defensive placement is fairly situational.
You want to place the Princess close to the king tower between the Princess Towers. By doing so, you are keeping the Princess out of Log Range, but are not applying any pressure to the other lane.
Opposite lane mid line
This is the most common defensive position, keeping the Princess out of harm’s way while applying dual lane pressure.
You will want to keep the Princess as close to the middle as possible without overlapping to the other side of the arena.
At the bridge
For last minute chip damage to finish off a tower. Used way too much by inexperienced players.
So what makes this card so good?
Well, for one, it is the only 3 elixir splash card for both air and ground.
Ice wizard lacks the damage per hit that that Princess boasts. Despite having low health, it is practically invincible if placed in the other lane.
If they decide to log the Princess, you can attack back with a whole world of pain with Goblin Barrel.
It is not level dependent, meaning that you could probably play a lvl 3 Princess at top of ladder and it wouldn’t hinder you much.
And to top it all off, once it finishes getting a shit load of value on defense, it goes on the offense and forces a response on the opposite lane, weakening their offense on the lane they want to attack on.
All that for 3 elixir!
The best is that Supercell will probably never nerf her.
The last point is that you should defend your Princess as long as it doesn’t put you in a bad spot.
If your opponent counters your Princess with a knight, don’t counter with gobin gang if they have log.
On the contrary, if your opponent counters your Princess with Fire Spirits, feel free to block them with a Log if your reaction is fast enpugh. It puts even more pressure on them to come up with a response.
Used to cycle your deck faster and can tank for goblin barrel/miner.
This deck has an extremely low avg elixir cost, so you will want to play aggressively to keep up the pressure on your opponent.
Play a Goblin Barrel on the tower and quickly cycle back to another one, noting their secondary counter so you can counter the counter, usually with a prediction Log.
Your soft punishment to no spells is solo Goblin Barrel. Once you know their secondary counter go for a hard punish with miner, countering their secondary counter.
That’s pretty much the basis of the deck, and it requires you to play the deck to get a feel for the specifics.
This deck struggles against Mortar and Royal Ghost but is an extremely solid deck in the current meta.
Play aggressive to outcycle your opponent.
